News: research trip to Mā’ohi Nui

In December, Rau Hoskins (Principal Investigator) and Emily Parr (Post-Doc) visited Mā’ohi Nui for the Artefacts of Relations project.

Rau and Emily travelled to Tahiti, Mo'orea, and Ra'iātea to document fare Mā'ohi and interview people who hold knowledge around them. Highlights included visiting Fare Hape and a ceremony at Taputapuātea. We saw beautiful fare, and recorded interviews with Heifara Doudoute, Matahi Tutavae, Tihoti Barff, Puarai Mario Tureva, Unutea Hirshon, Claude and Gerard Amiot, and Vehia Wheeler. Ngā mihi nunui to our guides, Matahi, Tihoti, and Vehia.
