Vā Moana Reading Group April 2022

On Friday the 8th we met for the first time in several months, after a long summer break (in the Southern Hemisphere, at least). April's reading group was held fully online.

This year we are reading Research Is Ceremony: Indigenous Research Methods by Shawn Wilson (Opaskwayak Cree). For this session, we began with the ‘Foreword and Conclusion’ and Chapter 1, 'Getting Started'. As part of our whakawhanaungatanga, and to help us develop a programme for the remainder of the year, we asked that our Reading Group whānau came prepared with something to share. This could be something they are thinking about or trying to figure out in their research at the moment, or a question or story related to the text. Everyone's contributions made for a valuable circular conversation.

If you are interested in joining the monthly Reading Group on Friday afternoons, please get in touch via autpacificspaces@gmail.com. This is open to Vā Moana affiliates and candidates, Māori and Pacific postgraduate students, as well as extended 'āiga and those in their final year of their undergraduate degrees.
