Vā Moana Reading Group May 2022

For May’s reading group, it was our privilege to host Shawn Wilson (Opaskwayak Cree), author of Research Is Ceremony: Indigenous Research Methods. A benefit to meeting online is that Shawn could join us from Bundjalung Country, while others were in Tongapōrutu, Tāmaki Makaurau, and elsewhere.

Our talanoa included Indigenist research paradigms, intentionality and ceremony in digital spaces, layered meaning and teachings in story, how common values among Indigenous peoples are uniquely expressed, and the politics of decolonisation.

If you are interested in joining the monthly reading group on Friday afternoons, please get in touch via autpacificspaces@gmail.com. This is open to Vā Moana affiliates and candidates, Māori and Pacific postgraduate students, as well as extended 'āiga and those in their final year of their undergraduate degrees.
